Who’s to blame? Is it the government, the advertisments, the conglomerate companies? The financial problems of America, can we really just blame the government for any economic crisis that comes our way? The real issue is found in the hearts of Americans and the cultural climate of consumerism. We live our lives buying and buying. Do we ever live within our means? No.  “The total amount of consumer debt in the US is nearly $2.4 trillion in 2010. That’s $7,800 debt per person.”(EconomyWatch) Then how can we place so much blame on the government? The problems of Washington are really just a reflection of those of the American people.

Sometimes I wonder what I did to be born in America, in a first world country. Why do I get to wake up in the morning eat breakfast, take a shower and go to work or school? Why do I have a supermarket with so many kinds of bread that I could eat a different kind every week for at least a year? Why do I get to live a life like this? How is that fair? Oh, life isn’t fair right…..

It really bothers me that the ‘luxuries’ I have come at the expense of others. Why do I deserve an easy life?  Why do other people need to suffer for us to live a life full of consuming products and false happiness?

// i should really just call it a night and go to bed shouldn’t I?

As children we are taught that we are special, in school they say everyone is special but the focus is on yourself. We teach children that everyone is unique but we do so without teaching them that you need to respect the differences.

So many adult americans can’t seem to understand that not everyone believes the same thing. You can’t make everyone fit the same mold, or believe the same things. Laws can’t be made thinking that there is only one way. Would things be better if we could realize that and come to a compromise on issues instead of continually bashing the other side’s point of view?

i just need to rant about this somewhere……

I’m so ashamed! Why do so many of my fellow Americans believe that karma is behind the earthquake and tsunami? We are not a blameless country. If we were to experience a disaster to the same extent, would they then say “Oh well, we deserved it,”? It really breaks my heart that so many Americans think we are blameless. When reminded of how much suffering we have caused they shrug instead of expressing remorse.

Also it makes me want to scream when I see comments about how we have our own problems here. Yes we do. That doesn’t mean we can just turn a blind eye to the world. This is never going to work. Isolationism is dead. Would you let your neighbors house burn to the ground because you have another problem to attend to inside your own home??  In today’s world suffering in one place can effect everyone else. Japan is a trade partner will America. Just think about that.  We have the ability to speed up Japan’s healing process! Why should we not do anything? We do have our own problems. although, something of this magnitude is the world’s problem. (dipshit fellow americans)

Two steps forward, one step back. two who love regardless, one who hates all but his own.  My generation can still change the world for the better. We may not be able to fix everything but we can still do something! So long as that for every ignorant bastard there are two people who really love and want to help their fellow man, no matter what. whatever happened to love your neighbor as you love yourself?
